Avandia Update

We've got some good news for you. The Miller Firm has reached a settlement with GSK, the manufacturers of Avandia, after a three-year struggle for you and your case. It is a confidential settlement amount, so we cannot tell you here what the settlement is or what the terms are. But know that we are busily preparing letters, which will be sent out to you, explaining the pros and cons of this settlement offer and why we're recommending it.

We look forward to having you read the letter and then contact us with questions so we can discuss the pros and cons with you. Know that before we recommended this settlement to you, we thought about it a long time to make sure we felt it was in your best interest.

The primary reason for recommending the settlement is lack of delay. If we were to continue to fight on this case, continue to ask for trial dates, it would be years before you would have a trial, by virtue of the sheer number of people that are claiming they've been hurt by Avandia. And then once trials are had, if the company wants to keep fighting, there would be appeals...and years of appeals. We think the advantage of this settlement is prompt resolution. It's a compromise that allows both sides to put this behind them and move on.
